Cerebral Palsy Aid

There are more than 6,000,000 patients with cerebral palsy and 40,000 to 50,000 new cases every year according to the latest figures. Among them 1,780,000 patients are between the ages of 0 to 12. The average incidence rate of Cerebral Palsy among newly born babies is 3.25 for every 1000 births. According to the statistics, 70% of children with cerebral palsy live in rural areas. Cerebral palsy ranked the fifth largest cause of disability, and the disability that is the third most likely to cause need for basic life support.

To bring the living conditions of the poor children with cerebral palsy into the public eye, , the Chinese Red Cross Foundation (CRCF) and the Yu Quan Hospital of Tsinghua University jointly launched the program named Angel of Love-helping poor children with cerebral palsy?in 2005. Its purpose is to improve the symptoms of children with cerebral palsy, relying on the hospital support through surgery and rehabilitation training and other treatments, so that the children can gain the capability to take care of themselves.
