On November 27, 2018, results of the 2017 National Social Organization Grade Assessment were announced. The Chinese Red Cross Foundation (CRCF) was awarded the National Grade 5A Foundation, the highest in China鈥檚 foundation grade assessment. This is also the third time for the CRCF to win the national Grade 5A Foundation title.

The assessment is based on the requirements of Social Organization Assessment Management Measures and the Notice on Implementation of 2017 National Social Organization Assessment. From the end of 2017 to November 2018, results of the assessment after preliminary appraisal by a third-party organization, and final appraisal by the National Social Organization Assessment Committee were determined after publicity. The CRCF, China Women Development Foundation, and China Youth Development Foundation were awarded the National Grade 5A Foundation.

It is understood that the national social organization assessment activity is carried out every five years. Since the Ministry of Civil Affairs conducted social organization assessment work, the CRCF has been awarded the National Grade 5A Foundation twice in the first assessment in 2008 and the 2013 assessment. The assessment is a comprehensive appraisal of the management and operation of national social organizations. According to the Notice of the Ministry of Civil Affairs on Carrying out Foundation Assessment Work, foundations that meet the assessment conditions are required to submit assessment materials. Results of the national social organization grade assessment will be released by the Ministry of Civil Affairs after such phases as preliminary appraisal by a third-party organization, on-site overall inspection, appraisal and spot check by the appraisal panel, final appraisal by the National Social Organization Assessment Committee, and media publicity. In the end, the CRCF achieved high scores in the four assessment items of basic conditions, internal governance, job performance, and social evaluation, and was awarded Grade 5A Foundation for three consecutive times.
